Junior Expert in Statistics of International trade in Services (SITS)

The Technical Assistance (TA) for the EU-ASEAN Statistical Capacity Building Programme (EASCAB) aims to support ASEAN integration through more accurate and relevant statistics which facilitate decision-making (overall objective) . The TA is implemented by a consortium led by GOPA Consultants in cooperation with GIZ International Services (as of 1.1.2011, before hand GTZ International Services).

We seeks to fill the position of a junior Statistics of International Trade in Services (SITS) / Foreign Direct Investment Statistics (FDIS) expert that will work on the sub project with a senior long term expert and short term experts and the following activities:

• On-the-job training for ASEAN stats staff
• Systematic collection of selected indicators from AMS! s, together with metadata
• Training and technical assistance for the production of ASEAN-level indicators and the statistical analysis of trade and related data at ASEAN level
• Technical assistance and pilot studies in order to collect more comparable  data for specific issues such as comparability studies, development of methodologies of estimation/treatment of special areas, including border trade and certain trade practices, etc.

Requirements:

• Advanced university degree or equivalent, in statistics or economics
• Excellent in written and spoken English
• Minimum 3years of professional experience in using SITS and/or FDIS
• Good knowledge of ASEAN cooperation, especially in the fields of investment and/or services
• First experience as a short term consu! ltant, technical assistant or technical officer in cooperation! projects
• Experience in preparation of international meetings
